Overview

The City of Austin is preparing to make improvements at the intersection of William Cannon Drive and Bluff Springs Road to improve safety, address pavement concerns and provide a long-lasting roadway solution for the community.

The existing pavement at this intersection has deteriorated over time, leading to concerns from residents and people who travel through the area. After evaluating repair options, engineers determined that reconstructing the intersection with concrete pavement would provide the most durable and cost-effective long-term solution.

Concrete pavement is designed to withstand heavy traffic and typically lasts longer than traditional asphalt, helping reduce the need for future repairs and maintenance. As part of the project, the City will also make improvements to curb ramps and pedestrian facilities to better meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility standards.

During construction, travelers can expect temporary lane closures and occasional traffic signal interruptions. Access through the intersection will be maintained whenever possible, but delays should be expected.
