Austin residents will redraw the city council district boundaries.

Background

Austin has a process for residents to redraw the boundaries of the council districts every ten years. The boundaries of the council districts greatly impact Austin’s government and will shape how residents are represented for the next decade.

Get involved

The 14 member Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission (ICRC) has begun the work to redraw the 10 City Council Districts based on 2020 Census data.

Austin residents can voice their input in the following ways:

  1. Attend and/or speak at an in-person or virtual event:
    1. Public Forums: Latest dates and locations featured on the bottom section of this page.
      1. July - August 2021: Any of 10 preliminary public forums held across all ten districts.
      2. September - October 2021: Any live or virtual forum to provide feedback on map drafts.
    2. Commission Meetings:
      1. The commission has a general meeting weekly at 6 p.m. every Wednesday at the Permitting and Development Center (PDC), 6310 Wilhelmina Delco Dr., Austin, TX 78752.
      2. The last virtual meeting was held Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021.
      3. Future meeting details may be found here.
  2. Provide comments and feedback of the 2021 ICRC Preliminary Map from the Sept. 15, 2021 meeting via email:
