I would like to see an audit of the City of Austin Police Department to understand internal problems with institutional racism.
I suspect we have some good ideas about what the findings will be, and I would like to propose the following as an action to address the likely findings: Mandate this program for all police department members, to become part of an overall program bringing about meaningful change https://www.centerforcouncil.org/ "Center for Council programs guide individuals in engaging and building community. We provide ongoing training for community-based organizations, within prisons, and for law enforcement and healthcare agencies. We also provide customized training and consulting for schools, businesses, and government agencies."
Excellent interview on this method: "What compelled me to sit down and talk with Seide was his work with people in difficult settings — specifically Hutus and Tutsis seeking restorative healing two decades after the genocide in Rwanda, and inmates and correctional officers in California’s prisons. One prisoner at Salinas Valley State Prison says that his Council training 'allows me to reconnect with my innocence and vulnerability.'" https://www.thesunmagazine.org/issues/534/the-power-of-story
