The CarverMuseumATX facility expansion planning process will continue the previous planning efforts of the George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural, and Genealogy Center and will guide future development in alignment with the community’s values, needs, and priorities.
This process will build off of the Feasibility Study for the Expansion of the George Washington Carver Museum & Cultural Center from 2000. The objective will be to develop a facility expansion plan update that takes into consideration the site’s current usage and changes to the surrounding area. Extensive community engagement will help inform the planning, design and development of a facility that reflects community sentiment.

The community input part of the planning process is your opportunity to share your desires and needs for the existing space, what can be improved, and a vision for the future of the George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center.
Part of preserving Community Identity requires a keen understanding of important history, key
socioeconomic impacts, and a respect for the legacy of original residents. As communities
change, the respectful recognition of existing culture and the exchange of ideas between
current and new residents promotes the success of newly diverse communities. Cultural
Centers and Museums that focus exhibits and programming on specific communities and
ethnicities are a proven way to advance the principles of Remembrance Design and
Community Identity.
