Austin Corridor Mobility Program

Status: Under Construction

About the Project

Current Work Zones

July 1, 2026 Project Update: The traffic signal at the intersection of Burnet Road and Braker Lane will be dark from approximately 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, to 3 a.m. on Thursday, July 2. Austin Police officers will be on site to direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic until work is completed. The closure is needed to facilitate multiple overhead cable transfers. Please seek an alternate route if possible, watch for construction crews and follow the direction of officers when approaching the intersection during this time.

Work is now actively underway on the northern segment of the corridor, stretching from approximately Braker Lane to MoPac Expressway. With this progress, all three segments of the project—from Koenig Lane to MoPac—are now under construction. This marks a major step forward in delivering the safety, mobility, and multimodal improvements planned for this busy travel corridor.

Over the coming months, crews will continue installing utilities, upgrading intersections, adding new pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and preparing the corridor for future enhancements. As construction activity increases, residents, businesses, and commuters will likely notice lane shifts, temporary detours, and intermittent closures. While teams are making every effort to minimize disruptions, some travel delays should be anticipated throughout the work.

Planned Improvements

  • ADA‑compliant curb ramps to improve accessibility
  • Shared‑use paths for safer walking and biking
  • Installation of two crosswalk signals (Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons, or PHBs) to support safer crossings
  • Traffic signal upgrades
  • Drainage improvements
  • Realignment of Burnet Lane at Burnet Road to improve safety and traffic operations
